Canelo’s promoter, Oscar de la Hoya was outraged when the International Boxing Federation (IBF) stripped the Middleweight World Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez of one of his three titles Thursday after he failed to agree to a deal for a bout against mandatory challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The 29-year-old Alvarez – one of the sport’s best-paid fighters – won the middleweight title from Daniel Jacobs in May. However, he was mandated by the IBF to face the Ukrainian boxer to defend it.
