Omar Fiqueroa got the decision over John Molina in a somewhat controversial decision. This fight was very close as seen with veteran boxing judge Larry Hazard scoring the fight for Molina. But this really should have been a draw. We saw Fiqueroa get out-worked by Molina who landed the harder and bigger punches. Molina beat Fiqueroa in about 7 rounds to 3 rounds margin though Fiqueroa landed at a higher rate. The fight was closer than the judges had it. Fiqueroa needs to go back down in weight to the super lightweight division. Molina was the aggressor and Fiqueroa was content with just countering. Some rounds we saw Figueroa win clearly but Molina was scoring with overhand rights and controlled the tempo of the fight. UPPERCUT believes this fight was a draw or a split for Molina. Molina should have gotten the draw. We disagree with the judge’s score cards on this one.
